He Said, She Said – What Is Sexy

Women are from Venus and men are from Mars … at least that’s what the book would have us believe. It’s true, tho — men and women are different. For two people who are very alike and discuss everything, we still have very different views on the same topic. Here’s the first of an occasional series in a “he said, she said” format exploring these questions.

As a teenager in the 70s, the Sears catalog was the closest thing to porn available when the need for a pubescent “outlet” was needed. So is it any surprise that I find women wearing lingerie to be very sexy?

If memes had been a thing when I was a teenager…

Oh, I’m very much attracted to the nude female form, but I find that leaving something to the imagination is just as alluring. Women showing a bit of decolletage will always catch my eye. Judy knows what I like and will often find the perfect outfit to show off the girls just a bit when in public.

Privately, she’s met me at the door wearing a matching bra and panty set under one of my dress shirts, or a bustier and sheer stockings. It gets my heart a-pumping!

But perhaps the sexiest thing in a woman is confidence. When Judy and I first met, she exuded a confidence that, along with her smile, drew me immediately to her. The spirit of those who carry themselves proudly no matter what they look like will win hearts every day!

I’m not sure why women are so different, but you can read hundreds of studies showing that we are attracted to VERY different things. Women, so the studies say, prefer some indication of success. To be fair, “success” is an individual definition. For me, a man sporting a well-fitted suit gets my heart pumping. Greg is REALLY good at it.

It’s not just the spit and polished look, though. It’s the fit physique under the suit that makes the man. Sure, a set of six-pack abs and tight, toned buns are a beautiful site, but that’s not the end-all-be-all. In fact, some of those outstanding physical specimens leave me shaking my head … nope, he spends WAY too much time in the gym!

He spends WAYYYY too much time in the gym.

Greg works out to stay toned and fit, but it’s not his whole life. Traveling and spending time together is far more attractive than watching him lift weights.

He also manages to know exactly how much to cover (or uncover) to spin my head around. It’s not just his looks, though. It’s also all the little things. He comes up behind me, wraps me in his arms and kisses my neck … SWOON! He never fails to open the door or hold a chair for me, even when it’s just the two of us sitting at our kitchen table.

One of the reasons our Mars/Venus relationship works so well, is that we communicate about everything. Letting each other know what works is essential, but I feel like our ability to say what doesn’t work sets us apart. Neither one of us gets bent out of shape when the other offers up a “that’s not what you’re wearing, is it?” type of comment. It is, after all, what a best friend is supposed to do – help you find your best self and continually upgrade your life.
